March without the break

I know I say this every month lately, but where is the time going? I swear I blink and it's a new month

sheesh

March was exciting though

however, the colleges up here didn't get a break and we were all feeling the stress of it so that may have had something to do with it. hmm.

so, let's recap, shall we?

I bit the bullet and started up Netgalley for myself (TDC had one as a group but I didn't want to skew our reputation with all the YA I want)  Had two books approved and they were both only okay. Nothing special; I had higher hopes for both (details below, links provided to reviews)

Let's see what I actually read:

- (finished) the beast is an animal
- Lost boy, Found boy (netgalley: goodreads review)
- the Martian
- Broken Flower by V.C. Andrews
- the Hazel Wood (which I will soon rant about in a review because I don't get the hype?)
- Princess Diariest by Carrie Fisher (which has me bingeing Star Wars this weekend while I am home alone with the pupps)
- Bookish Boyfriends (Netgalley; goodreads reivew)
- Gemina

3 random kindle books, and 2 that I reviewed for Summer Eve's Reads

which puts me at 55 / 200 for the year!

It was an odd month.  I didn't get half the reading I wanted in, between tail end of being sick and work being crazy (and being SO tired), and hubby and i have been bingeing grays anatomy...  weird that end of the month ended up being the craziest but I got the most reading in. Science side of Tumblr, explain please?

I still have a handful of books that were on Feb/March's TBR so those will be added to the pile that I have for April

- Young Scrooge (though why i'm not reading this at xmas, who knows)
- The hate you give
- and I darken
- romeo redeemed / Juliet immortal
- time keeper / timeless
- rebel in the sand
- nevermore / enshadowed /oblivion

plus i have the next 2 books of the Man of the Month series by J. Kenner for Summer Eve's reviews.
and whatever else floats my boat on my kindle.  Work is slowing down somewhat (though I need to start grabbing what I can to save up for the summer slow months so maybe not?) but maybe weekends will be my time to binge?

I need to get better with my reviews, insert awkward laugh here. I'm so behind ...

Also, I'm trying to find more Canadian book bloggers and haven't found many (IG-ers too so leave your links below!)

but I'm thinking of starting up some kind of Hub for us Canadian bloggers - unless there's one I don't know about - Still doing some research but if any fellow Canadians are interested in joining this or hearing more about it, reach out :)

I really wanted to do Camp NaNo but no time/energy right now. Which sucks. I'm editing randomly and need a kick in the butt to sit down and finish it... hmm..

We have a new addition to our family!

This is Granite. He's a 2yo Akita Shepherd. So far he's getting along with our golden retriever, he hasn't met the chihuahua yet who is away visiting my MIL while Granite gets settled. ISN'T HE HANDSOME!? Rescue pup from the toronto humane society and we're in love with him. He's awesome *swoon*
We got him a week ago and so far so good!

Hubs wants to get a trailer (not sure if I mentioned this last month or not) but we're on the hunt for something near the US boarder  - i'm hoping on the Falls side - for the summer months.

Nothing else is new - I am excited to have more free time in a few weeks when college is over and I can be more flexible with work.

That's it for now folks! See you on the flip side ;)

  1. Man, you had a heck of a month!! What did you think of The Martian? I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would! And I've been dying to read The Princess Diarist for aaaages, I feel like it would get me bingeing Star Wars too (not that I need another excuse haha). Looking forward to hearing what you think of The Hate U Give - I've heard so many good things!
