author meets, giveaways and not enough reading

holy heat, batman.  Don't get me wrong, I love the heat. But this is a bit much; esp when the AC in the house doesn't work to the point that when you turn it on, the house gets warmer. Sigh. even the puppies are melting.

It was a crazy month, like usual. For some weird reasons. Time seemed to go quickly, for the most part. Though it was an emotional month so blame that ?

Alright, let's get down to business

(without any huns)

The more I add to my TBR, the less I read... I swear, I'm cursed.

This month included:

- Daughter of Darkness
- Immortal Reign (finally!)
- Artemis Fowl: the Lost Colony
- Glass Sword
- the Last Guy
- Royal Player
- Dead Boyfriend
- Nowhere else but here by Rachel Cotton (Via Netgalley)

I'm in the middle of 3 since my brain cannot focus this past week (King's Cage, AF: the time paradox, and enchantment of ravens)

and finished 4 for Summer Eve's Reviews (p.s. Mr Masters was amazing)

so not an awful month, with 12 completed, but not what i wanted by far.

this puts me at 79/200. hmph.  So behind on reviews too, eek.

I met Victoria Aveyard this month and it was fantastic! I mean, the event itself was unorganised (by the store/staff) and when the staff was trying to entertain the crowd, she didn't even know the characters (who the heck is Mark Barrows) and I was so uncomfy standing like a sardine in the middle of the room that I debated on leaving but ... even being the 154th person to get my book signed, it was worth it, eventually.  My collection of signed books is growing slowly!

My home life is kinda falling apart so who knows what life is going to look like within the next few weeks but! I still have goals. (kinda)

* finish up my 3 current reads
- fangirl
- raven king
- thousand nights
- art of racing in the rain (anyone else see this is becoming a movie?)
- Obsidio
- ACOFAS (*happy dance*)
- as old as time
- darkest part of the forest

and I have 2 for TDC that are technically due in may (though I never put them on the calendar, oops) and 2 due in June. Plus a few for Summer's Eve Reviews.   Let's hope these all keep my attention since work is just. so. slow!

JUNE IS ALSO MY TWO YEAR BLOGAVERSARY ! hurray !
I'll be doing a giveaway of sorts
so keep an eye on my twitter and IG
maybe facebook too but no one ever looks at that thing ;)

Like i said earlier, everything is kinda falling apart at home. The pups are good though which is always nice. Though the new guy *hates* the rain and since it's rainy season he's all anxious and needy. Honestly, boy. He's lucky he's stinkin' cute! anyone have anxious pets? how do you help them when they have to be home alone? (soon the other dogs won't be around to help him)

Work has been slower than I was expecting (and lots of cancellations which is just rude.)  I've been spending more time with my nieces/nephew though, which has been fun. Kids are weird though. It's hard not to laugh or just walk away.. :p

My best friend keeps going on vacations and doesn't smuggle me with her. what even is the point of having friends, i ask you. but she's home now and I get to see her this weekend when I go back to my "hometown" (which sounds so stupid but its a decent hour drive on the highway and some days the traffic makes it feel like another country. stupid toronto traffic...)

I think that's it for May!

here's the bookhaul <3

(though a few last minute buys are missing; found the most amazing bookstore up in parry sound and i'm in love. need to go back asap)

April snow storms bring ...

 nothing, really. Hibernation.
 Lots of reading.
The end of the school year.

April went by slow for me, surprisingly.

It was not the busiest month, but I expected that.
What I read:

- The Cruel Prince
- Young Scrooge
- This Family of Mine
- Once upon a Dream
- Juliet Immortal / Romeo Redeemed
- Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban
- The Hate U Give
- All the Little Lights (ARC via Netgalley)
- Scarlet Toys

Plus 3 for Summer's Eve reads
and none for TDC, been slow over there this year so far but I have a bunch being booked for May/June ;)

so that's 13 for the month
putting me at 68/200 for the year!

May is birthday month! which means nothing really. I don't particularly like my birthday but it's still my fave month. I plan to read 98% of the time but I also need to work up a blanket for my cousin since her baby shower is coming up soon.

Books on the list:

(STILL have 7 left over from March and April. honestly. They are top priority bc they're now starting to bug me, she says as she adds a whole new pile to her list.

May Books include, but are not limited too:

- Red Queen series (though i've read book1) bc V.A is coming to Toronto end of the month for War Storm tour
- A Thousand Nights
- Enchantment of Ravens
- City of Brass
- Artemis Fowl (just the last 4 books)
- Phantom of the Opera
- Art of Dancing in the rain (which is from my Feb list..sigh)
- Darkest Part of the Forest
- Dead Boyfriend
- 12 years a slave

and 2 for Summer's Eve reads
plus the few I have booked for TDC (if the authors send in the files; you never can tell anymore... )

so yay for free time! bc that makes my goal: 25 ! eek.

I also asked my brother for Obsidio for the bday. and asked mommy for ACOFAS (which releases on the same day) so fingers crossed for those lil goodies

Our washing machine has been broken since mid March so April was a pain in the butt, having to go bug our parents and dragging clothes etc around to stay hygienic

...

but we made it through. and last week we got our new one. which has  see-through lid!! and it's captivating to watch my clothes go 'round and 'round.

I swear I'm cooler than this.

Doggie has been settling in nicely, though we've had a hiccup or two with him just trying to get used to not being the only male in the house (our chihuahua came home finally and they're fighting for alpha) but overall, he's doing just fine!

School is over now so i'm offically on summer vacation. sigh. means LOTS of time to read, but no work = no fun money laying around.

BUT! hubby bought me a pagehabit box for my birthday (they had a giveaway and I won a bonus deal spot so we grabbed it) so that's always nice. The unboxing will be up on my insta @inafieldofbooks when I get it in a day or two.
