Review: Tower of Dawn
so FINALLY i read this one
because after empire of storms
i got distracted with the rest of my shelves
and they're such long books ...
so even though i rushed out on release day to grab this one
(and kingdom of ash tbh)
they just took up space on my shelves, starring me down
I was now ready to dive back into the world of magic, fae and assassins and see what happened to my lovely characters
let's start with Chaol
honestly, it's been at about 2 years since i read anything from this series, so i had no idea what was going on.
who are these people? (except chaol. but i didn't remember what had happened to him)
but i kept with it, quickly falling back in love with the world and the people who lived there
the only issue i have with this series, is that it's so detail orientated that if i have something on the tv or people around, it's hard to focus and many times i found my eyes going back to the top of the left page so i could reread the past 2 minutes
but i finished it
and loved it
though that "epilogue" was super confusing and i hope that kingdom of ash clears things up because i don't remember the past books
which makes me question if i should reread them
but ...
my tbr is too long for that right now.
Review: Nevernight
well.
i finally did it.
I made it through Nevernight.
the first time i got it was from the library and with the time constraint, i felt pressured to get through it.
and it wasn't a mood read so it just wasn't happening.
i bought it instead recently
(and godsgrave bc i can't just have one)
and so i got to read it when i was ready ...
... which wasn't long after purchasing haha
I liked it this time.
the writing got to me at times, but i like JK's other stuff so I stuck with it
and happy i did
Mia's story is quite amazing
and powerful
and yet it was laced with the sarcasm that this girl loves to see
i don't get why it gets such a bad rep.
yeah, it's not YA (though you could argue you have a young lady trying to save the world...ish)
i still don't get the freak outs with the death and sexy stuff.
I found it very mild (esp the sexy stuff. like, this is not risque at all peeps. if that was insane to you, you're not reading enough of the good stuff. but i like my smut. so... i disgress)
Tric and the others in the program waiting to be chosen is a wild ride.
from start to finish, this story takes you on a path of revenge, friendship, love and self-care
It didn't take me long to get through it
and now i'm actually excited for godsgrave
all the reviews online have shown i'm just in the beginning of a tragic story and i can't wait to see how Mia's life plays out.
